War Machine is one of Marvel’s most popular characters that has made its debut since the MCU was first founded. This superhero whose real name is James Rhodes aka Rhodey debuted in the MCU through the film Iron Man as Tony Stark’s best friend. In Iron Man 2 he finally got his own armor and became a new superhero named War Machine. Where until this moment there are a number of different armor he has worn, including the Iron Patriot armor.
Now, after his last appearance in Avengers: Endgame, many are wondering when War Machine will return. Especially with Tony’s death at the end of Endgame, not a few fans hope he can replace the next Iron Man role. Interestingly, this character from Don Cheadle has been confirmed to be making his comeback in the Multiverse Saga. Precisely through various upcoming series that fans are currently anticipating, namely Secret Invasion and Armor Wars.
War Machine Will Return With New Armor
In the D23 event (via The Direct) which took place some time ago, Marvel Studios has shared some pretty interesting updates. One of them is the description of the return of the War Machine in the description of the Armor Wars series. The studio revealed that fans will get to see a new side of the character from Cheadle. Where he will wear a new armor that will match the title of the series.
“Rhodey fans will see a new perspective on his character. Taking into account the title of the series, viewers can also look forward to the hero’s new costume, with a number of different types of armor,” wrote Marvel Studios in the Armor Wars description.
Cheadle himself had confirmed that the Armor Wars series would take material directly from the original comics that were released in the 80s. Where the main premise will show the adventures of Rhodey trying to track down stolen technology belonging to Tony Stark. Based on this, it is not impossible that Rhodey will wear armor that is more sophisticated than before in order to achieve his goal.
