From stories in the main universe to those taking place in Elseworld, the story of this character whose real name is Kal-El/Clark Kent is always interesting for us to follow. One reason is because he is a superhero who has the most complete power set. If you refer to Gatot Kaca, maybe Superman also has the same nickname, namely the iron bone wire muscle.
Even so, it is not uncommon for Superman to have to fight while wearing a costume. Out of a number of costumes he’s ever worn, one of the most popular is Unchained Armor. Not a few fans consider this armor to be the coolest and at the same time frightening Superman costume. There are many reasons that can make us agree with this statement. Appears When Superman Fights the Government
As we know, Superman is a superhero whose immunity and endurance are extraordinary. So that in every action, he tends not to need special clothes to make it more great. However, when he donned the Unchained Armor in Scott Snyder and Jim Lee’s Superman Unchained #7 (2014) comics, most fans immediately fell in love with his new look. It all started with the appearance of a villain named Sam Lane who turned out to be able to injure Superman’s body with very sophisticated American government technology.
This technology comes from an alien named Wraith, who arrived on Earth decades earlier. Instead of disclosing the technology to the public, the government keeps it secret and uses it for personal gain. Superman who knows this intends to dismantle it. At the same time, Sam Lane, who is also a general, immediately devised a plan to kill the Man of Steel so that government secrets were maintained. As Superman fights Sam’s army, the Wraith arrives and manages to repulse Superman.
Long story short, Sam and his troops turned out to be chasing Superman to the Fortress of Solitude. Sam threatens that he will destroy his base if Superman doesn’t give him Kryptonian technology. After putting up a fight and getting injured, Superman finally summoned the Unchained Armor and put it on right away. With this armor that looks very frightening, he finally managed to defeat Sam and his troops. Proving that apart from making him cooler, Unchained Armor has also made him stronger.
Equipped with Hammer and Shield
In addition to armor that makes Superman even more terrifying, Unchained Armor is also equipped with a hammer and shield that emits energy. When wearing all the Unchained Armor equipment, basically Superman’s main abilities and powers are still the same. The difference is, when wearing this armor his immunity is increased by many times, and the energy from his hammer allows him to deal much more powerful and effective attacks.
With his hammer, Superman managed to destroy most of Sam’s technology, including the giant robots that were preparing to destroy the Fortress of Solitude. Meanwhile, with his shield, he managed to withstand all the deadly attacks that might immediately knock Superman down if he wasn’t wearing the Unchained Armor. So far, it has not been revealed what the weaknesses of Unchained Armor are. What is clear, the strength of this new armor has succeeded in making Superman able to withstand various kinds of attacks that previously could hurt him.
Without Unchained Armor, Superman might be defeated by General Sam Lane and his army. Worse yet, Superman could have died, then the Fortress of Solitude would have been destroyed and the technology would have been taken by Sam. Luckily, he decided to take advantage of the Unchained Armor and managed to counterattack which instantly deterred Sam. Too bad after this epic battle the Unchained Armor was instantly destroyed. Even so, at least this armor has contributed to making Superman stronger as well as cooler and frightening at the same time.
