Saw is a popular horror film franchise created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell that has had at least nine film titles. This achievement has indirectly made the franchise one of the longest-running horror films. Starting with the film Saw (2004), then continuing until Saw 3D (2010), the franchise was only able to bounce back with the film Jigsaw in 2017. Last year, a spinoff film titled Spiral: From the Book of Saw was even quite successful in theaters. .
Not long after the success of the ninth film, the Saw 10 film officially entered the development stage by Twisted Pictures. Josh Stolberg, who previously wrote the screenplays for Jigsaw and Spiral, even shares updates on the development of his tenth film quite often. He has also revealed that the Saw 10 script is one of his favorites out of the entire franchise. Hearing this statement, many loyal Saw fans can’t wait to see the tenth film.
Lionsgate Announces Saw 10 Release Schedule
After there was no news of updates during 2022, The Wrap finally reported that Lionsgate had given the green light to Twisted Pictures to work on Saw 10. Kevin Greutert, who previously worked on the sixth and seventh Saw films, has officially returned to work on Saw 10. For its own release, Lionsgate has scheduled the film to premiere on October 27, 2023, to coincide with the Halloween season.
So far, there is still no additional information that reveals what the Saw 10 plot will be like. However, along with this announcement, producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules promised that Saw 10 would answer all fans’ expectations over the years. As Stolberg has previously stated, this tenth film will most likely involve actor Tobin Bell as the serial killer Jigsaw who has been the star of the franchise.
The involvement of Kevin Greutert himself has made fans even more curious about the film. This can happen because he is a famous director who succeeded in bringing the Saw VI film as well as failed with Saw 3D. Hopefully this Greutert and Stolberg collaboration can be the answer for fans who really hope for the success of the horror film Saw 10
