Joker 2 has added a new star to the main cast. The film, which was returned by director Todd Phillips, is a sequel to the Joker film which was released in 2019. Where the first film itself is considered very successful with various achievements, both financially and awards. Thanks to that, it’s not surprising that currently Warner Bros. very serious about the development and production of Joker 2 titled Joker: Folie Deux.
So far, it has not been revealed what the plot of the sequel will be. Reportedly, the background of the Joker 2 film will tell more about the events at the Arkham Asylum mental hospital. This is quite reasonable because at the end of the first film itself, the character Arthur Fleck aka Joker was ultimately imprisoned in Arkham Asylum. After previously announcing the return of Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker, Zazie Beets as Sophie Dumond, and Lady Gaga as the new Harley Quinn, it was recently revealed who the fourth actor would be joining the Joker 2 film.
Joker 2 Movie Gets Harry Potter Star
Deadline has just reported that actor Brendan Gleeson has officially joined the cast of Joker 2. So far there is no other official information that reveals Gleeson’s role in the film. However, Deadline’s Justin Kroll speculates that his character will most likely have a relationship with Arkham Asylum, either as a supervisor or a security guard.
Brendan Gleeson himself is an Irish actor and director whose name is already familiar in the Hollywood film industry. There have been many interesting films that have involved him, including Braveheart (1995), the Harry Potter franchise (2005–2010) as Alastor Moody aka Mad-Eye, Suffragette (2015), Paddington 2 (2017), as well as The Ballad of Buster Scruggs ( 2018). The Irish Times once named him one of the best Irish actors in 2020.
With the reveal of this fourth actor, it is not impossible that in the near future there will be more announcements regarding the lineup of other actors. Considering the star-studded quality of the first film lineup, it seems that it will be interesting to see who will join the Joker 2 film in the future. Although production is not yet underway, Joker: Folie Deux is scheduled to be released on October 4th. next 2024.
